How NYU Dropout Andrea Giunti Plans on Changing the Global Media & Publishing Industry

Andrea in Shanghai, China

Andrea Giunti Lombardo is a 22-year-old innovating his family business, with over 1000+ employees and a quarter billion dollar USD yearly revenue. He has had a long list of achievements beginning with the start of his entrepreneurial career at the early age of 13-year-old organizing events in Florence with thousands of people. Since amassing an impressive list of accomplishments, Andrea has been very focused on completely changing the way global media and publishing is done.

The Plan

Andreas’ focus is to gradually reorient the family business into adopting a digital-first approach in the fast-changing media industry. These changes will allow the company to expand and tap into new markets while preserving and leading the traditional print business.  On the horizon, the publishing giant is restructuring its social media presence and finding new ways to monetize its content online and offline, in Italy and abroad.

When Asked If Andreas Believes the Publishing Industry is Dying He Promptly Answered

“I’ve been in the publishing industry for the past four years, and it has changed rapidly. My grandfather, who is also one of the people that I admire the most, has been in the publishing industry for the past 65 years and has seen the industry change a lot as well. People still read books’.

Andrea believes it’s just a matter of adapting to new habits and new business models, but change shouldn’t necessarily be seen as a threat, but rather, as an opportunity. You save lots of costs with ebooks, no printing, no return, no logistics, no physical distribution, you cut the middle man, and you immediately receive your payments—24/7, from anywhere.

So a push towards digital media as a publishing house can also be an excellent opportunity for traditional publishers if they can move fast and be agile.” While most people see it as an industry that’s going down, Andrea sees it as quite the opposite.

Key Takeaway

We plan on seeing Andrea become a household name in the publishing and media industry for Italy, and with his incredible head start, we think the best is yet to come.
