Meet 14 Year Old Instagram Marketer: Laurence Moss

We had the pleasure of interviewing Laurence Moss, a 14 year old instagram marketer from the UK, founder and CEO of Greedy Growth. Laurence has built up a following of over 200,000 across his various instagram accounts in the last year and manages the instagram accounts of several high profile businesses. Laurence truly is the definition of hustle, generating income with zero help from anyone.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

When I was 12 I was the kid that used to search up on youtube how to make money online, so I would make a $1 or $2 here and there, but eventually I got frustrated and gave up. I had always loved the idea of building an audience, so I decided instagram would be the way forward. I grew a travel related account from 0-10k followers in under 2 months from constant research and testing. I started receiving messages from people who wanted me to post their ad and then they would pay me. At this point, this one instagram account was generating me $80+ per month which was insane to me. Once I realized I could implement the same strategies on businesses accounts everything took off from there.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your ventures?

I think one of the most interesting events was how I achieved my first high ticket client. I knew that businesses looked for work on a site called ‘Upwork’ where freelancers could apply to the jobs. I couldn’t apply as a freelancer because I was only 14! So, I would look through all the jobs, and see if I could find the businesses name. Then I would search them up, find their email, and pitch to them. My 5th inquiry resulted in a $400 per month client! And to top it off, that business received 50+ proposals from upwork!

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Probably when I accidentally made a post go viral on my account when it had literally 500 followers. That one post got over 10,000 likes and as a result my account climbed 700 followers extra in 24 hours. It shows you that accidental success isn’t really an accident. I then saw what I did ‘accidentally’ and repeated it with equal success later on.

What do you think makes your company stand out? Can you share a story?

One thing I do when proposing to prospects is tell them about my ‘minimum gains’. Unlike many services that estimate an amount of followers that you will gain, I say to my client, ‘if you pay this much, I will guarantee you this many followers per month’. This is how sure I am that I can get results. It makes businesses take a step back because they realize that I know what I’m talking about.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Don’t take on too many clients at once. I have the juggle between school and business so i’m extremely limited, but I could still see how people could struggle with multiple clients, as it could be very stressful.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I did have help, but it wasn’t really one person. When I dived into small closed communities, looking for valuable information that top marketers couldn’t even attempt to comprehend, the people in there were extremely nice, willing to help me along my journey. Without this help and them sharing their knowledge, I don’t think I would be where I am today.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I consistently help other people who are looking to do similar things that I do, and give out the same information that was given to me to others, free of charge.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

An ancient Chinese proverb once said that a wise man fishes in murky waters. Giving context, this means that if a niche is too saturated, go where other people already haven’t. Instagram is very un-saturated and there are countless businesses that haven’t even discovered instagram yet so it’s a perfect unsaturated market.

What are your “5 things I wish someone told me before I started my company” and why. Please share a story or example for each.

  • Nothing is impossible
  • Work smart not hard
  • Copy other people that have success
  • Hustle.
  • Be resilient

You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement  that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

I would love to give a speech to multiple business owners telling them how instagram can benefit them in many amazing ways.
