The road towards a full-time digital entrepreneur starts by you taking a hard look at yourself, the things you’re good at, and the things you’re passionate about, and putting them to work. Cole says that you can’t work on every idea that pops into your head, and instead you have to do some research at what’s reasonable and what’s not. Just because the crowd follows a specific way doesn’t mean it is the right way, and whatever you decide to do it must be something that you’re passionate about and love. 

2. Build an Online Presence

Once you have a clearer view of what you want to do, you need to start your claim on the online world. At this point, we’re talking about setting up social media channels, a website, or a blog. Social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other ones such as YouTube and Vimeo can all work for you once you establish an audience. Apart from social media channels, signing up for a web hosting and building a website should be your second priority, says Cole. When doing this, you should think a lot about starting a WordPress website, and getting to grips with tools such as cPanel and Softaculous.

3. Start Generating Leads

Leads are what drive businesses in both the offline and digital world of entrepreneurship. Having the best product or service is simply not good enough if you can’t attract people to invest. We can think of at least a dozen great ideas that ultimately failed because there wasn’t any interest from the people.

If you truly think that your product can help someone, then you need to turn that person into a customer by tapping into the potential market, says Cole. Utilizing leads is very important for business success, so do not neglect it.

4. Create Valuable, Relevant, Content

Creating content is what makes people visit your website or social media channels, says Cole. Having the ability to create quality, and easily marketable, content is what separates a successful from a struggling business. What good is a website if you can’t show your visitors what it can do? As a digital entrepreneur, your main goal should be to become a trusted source of information within your area of expertise, and to create relationships with your customers that will become the building blocks for the future, says Cole.
