Brazilian Model Juliana Nalú is Taking The Fashion World By Storm

We recently sat down upcoming Brazilian beauty Juliana and this is what she wanted to share:

What inspired you to start modeling?

Growing up, I dreamed of being an actress and always wanted to be in front of a camera. Modeling felt like a natural outlet that would allow me to inspire people around the world. Most importantly, girls like me from the small towns and favelas in brazil that don’t have many opportunities.

How did you get your start?

I started when I was 14 in Brazil by taking traditional agency meetings with my mom. She supported me and helped me land small gigs for a few years until I was 18 and signed to a bigger agency which is responsible for the majority of my success. I have to thank my mom for getting me started. She truly believed in me when nobody else did.

Who are your role models in the industry?
Gisele Bündchen and Naomi Cambpell
Describe your first modeling job.

It was awful! haha… I was 14 in Rio on a super hot day and had to walk the runway. The show wasn’t professional and it was very tiring, however, I enjoyed every moment of it because I knew that this is what I wanted to do.

What has your favorite modeling job been and why?

I’d have to say it was a campaign I did for L’Oréal in Brazil. At the time, it had the most visibility and allowed me to work alongside Brazilian icon, Tais Araujo. She has always been a true inspiration of mine. That shoot made me realize the importance of my role as a model and how I can inspire others.

Where have you traveled for work? Anywhere in particular that stands out?

Thankfully I’ve been to many places for work but I’d have to say Los Angeles and Jamaica are my favorites.

Describe your career goals.

To go as far as I possibly can. Obviously I have some material goals but the most important thing is to push myself and inspire others.

What type of role does Instagram play in your daily life and career?

Instagram is an excellent tool to communicate with friends, fans, colleagues, and future work partners. I’d say it plays a huge role!

Today, brands are often looking for multidimensional models that bring another quality or attribute, aside from their beautiful looks, to the table. What do you believe makes you stand out?

I’ve gone through so much in my life and use those experiences as fuel for my shoots. Instead of showing up to shoots and relying on my looks, I rely on my energy and my passion. That is my true super power. I want to be a reflection of my home in brazil and show the world who we are through imagery. We are warm, happy, and beautiful people.
